The Eurovision excitement gets bigger and bigger.
We are spending the last days before leaving for Dusseldorf in our home city – Chisinau, and dedicate as much time as possible to rehearsals. Today we had the first rehearsal, wearing the almost ready new costumes. Check some preview photos below.
Luckily, on April 24 we performed in Kiev on Independence Square, along with other participants at the Eurovision: Austria (Nadine Beiler), Azerbaijan (duo Ell & Nikki), UK (band “Blue”), Ukraine (Mika Newton) and France (Amaury Vassili). We hope all of you had a happy Easter. Meanwhile, we had a fun time in Kyiv, met our old friends and made new ones; we enjoyed the concert, the press conference and the after party! Mika, thanks for the invitation! Some photos on facebook.
Looking back at our promotional activities…
The kushmas (caps) became a real symbol of the promotional tour, attracting lots of attention - everyone wanting to try them and take pictures.
Roman and Sveatoslav shared their experiences (and photos) on this blog.
Despite the tight schedule, we didn’t put aside our concert activities. Most of the live gigs took place in Romania. Additionally, we were invited to participate in the Eurovision concert organized on April 9 in Bucharest, hosted by Romania’s representative Hotel FM and also attended by the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Dino Merlin) and Slovakia (TWiiNS).
On April 12, in Chisinau, in the framework of a press conference, Roman and Sveatoslav told in detail about their trip and Zdob si Zdub’s plans for the next month. They mentioned that in each country they were asked: “How do you like our city?” Roman replied: “How is it possible to learn about a city at such a pace? That’s impossible! And we thought that we should repeat our tour, in order to feel, see, learn and understand the flavour and spirit of each unique place! And most of all we would love to play full live gigs there.” Also, whenever possible, we meet the representatives of other countries who visit Moldova during their promotional tours. Recently we met the duo “TWiiNS” from Slovakia.
Mid-April, Zdob si
Zdub visited Brussels (Belgium), where we discussed with several reporters
about our preparations for the contest. Nonetheless the main aim of the trip
was the participation in the fifth anniversary edition of the “Balkan Trafik”
Ffestival, which gathered more than 200 performers from 12 countries. (Photos)
On April 18 Zdob si Zdub
invited the Romanian journalist to a press conference held
whose main topic was the release of the single "So Lucky" taken from
the new English-sung album. The lead-singer, Roman, declared that his band aims at being the
most "surrealistic, grotesque and unusual"
act on the Eurovision 2011 stage.
